Winter Gin Serves

The sun beats down on your slowly browning skin, you reach for a cold refreshing gin and tonic with bright and zesty flavours that will quench your thirst. Alas summer is long gone and you will be looking for warm comforting gins with satisfying mixers and garnishes.

So as the snow falls leaving a blanket of white, sit yourself by the fire, put on a wooly jumper and fluffy socks and read this week’s blog. Hopefully the serving ideas will give you a warm glow on the inside and redden your cheeks.

Jarrolds London Dry with Damson and Sloe Berry Tonic

Jarrolds London Dry with Damson and Sloe Berry Tonic

For gin lovers, having a good London Dry Gin is a necessity, it is mutifunctual and lends itself to a wine range of cocktails and mixers. This London Dry Gin by Jarrolds is reminiscent of the classic style of genever with heavy juniper flavours. We have paired it with Fever Tree’s festive Damson and Sloe Berry Tonic, creating a great winter drink.

In a glass of your choice filled with ice add the gin and top with the tonic water. Garnish with a slice of orange.

Warm Damson and Raspberry Gin with Apple and Cinnamon

Warm Damson and Raspberry Gin with Apple and Cinnamon

The team at WildJac have a long history of distilling and brewing and have taken this expertise to make an outstanding range of spirits. With this gin they have gone with the classic damson as well as incorporating sweet raspberry elements while retaining a full percentage of alcohol. This one works beautifully warmed with apple juice and cinnamon.

Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan and warm over a low heat. Pour into a mug and enjoy.

Orange and Pomegranate Gin with Rosemary

Orange and Pomegranate Gin with Rosemary

This gin takes its inspiration from the Southern States of America. It doesn’t scream Christmas but just think of that festive orange flavour and those bright jewel like pomegranate seeds, they could almost be a ruby studded gift to a loved one! To enhance the flavours of the gin we are combining it with a splash of pomegranate juice and seeds plus a sprig of rosemary for even more festive feels! It’s a perfect serve for parties too!

Add the gin and juice to a glass filled with ice. Top with tonic water and garnish with the pomegranate seeds and rosemary.

Pinnock’s Sloe, Damson and Honey Gin with Ginger and Cinnamon

Pinnock’s Sloe, Damson and Honey Gin with Ginger and Cinnamon

Do they get any more wintery than a sloe gin? Traditionally sloe berries were picked after the first frost to split the skins or it was also customary to prick the skins with a thorn taken from the blackthorn on which they grow. This allows the gin to macerate in the flavours of the fruit. But if you can’t be bothered with all that faff then there are some excellent examples that you can purchase! This gin liqueur by Pinnock Distillery is rich and decadent, perfect for indulginging in this winter!

We are combining the delightful gin with uplifting ginger ale and enchanting cinnamon for a perfect warming drink.

In a glass filled with ice add the gin and topped with ginger ale and a cinnamon stick.

The combinations are endless! Why not buy a bottle and tag us in your festive gin serves on social media!
